Left: Admiralty Head Lighthouse (built 1890 to help guide ships into Puget Sound; became obsolete in 1927 when its lantern was removed), Fort Casey State Park, part of Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, Whidbey Island.

Below right: Fort Casey was one of three forts (including Fort Worden and Fort Flagler) built in the late 1890's to guard Admiralty Inlet with a "Triangle of Fire", protecting Puget Sound ports. The United States used the fort heavily for World War I training, but never in actual combat. All armaments were scrapped for other purposes by 1945.
