Right: The north face of Mount Robson (3,954 meters / 12,972 feet, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies), rises high above blue-green Berg Lake (1641 meters / 5385 feet elevation). The beautiful turquoise color of Berg Lake is caused by finely powdered glacial sediments suspended in the water. Visiting Berg Lake requires backpacking 22 kilometers (13 miles) one way to a campground, in Mount Robson Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada. In the foreground of this image, the leaves of low-growing bushes have changed from their summer green to a blazing red color in late September.  [Published in Sierra Magazine, Sierra Club Outings January/February 2004.]

Below: Berg Glacier drops ice bergs into Berg Lake. Mount Robson (3,954 meters / 12,972 feet) is not only the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, but is one of the most impressive and beautiful sights in British Columbia, Canada.
