Over 50 million years, global tectonic forces drove India against Asia, lifting these former sea bed layers to form the top of Lhotse, Nepal. The Himalaya are still rising 2 inches every year. Lhotse (27,923 feet / 8511 meters, above sea level) is the world's fourth highest peak.
