Tibetan Buddhist mani stone wall, and prayer flags, on the high point between Pangboche and Phortse, in the Himalaya of eastern Nepal. Lhotse (upper right, 27,923 feet / 8511 meters, above sea level) is the world's fourth highest peak. The tremendous south face of Lhotse rises 2 vertical miles in a steep slope averaging a 55 degree angle.
